History

Maeve was born in Avalon during the Fae/Cetran war. A conflict in which she lost both of her biological parents and gained an adoptive one. Her early childhood up until the age of 100 (6 or 7 in human terms) has been lost to the mists of time. There came a day her parents left for a raid against the Cetra and then never returned home...even though everyone had always returned home before even when killed, for reincarnation or recorporeation was a rather swift process for Fae souls once returned to their home plane.

Maeve's earliest childhood memories though begin with Mab, then leader of the Fae and ruler of Avalon, taking her in and becoming like a mother to her, even on occasion allowing Maeve to address her as 'mother' instead of 'your majesty.' Living with Mab and being raised by her, also brought Lord Oberon, current Lord of Avalon and ruler of the Fae, into Maeve's life. Oberon became like an older brother to her. Oberon was an arrogant ass, but he was never unkind to her or cruel, that is until the end of their association as she knew it to be. Maeve was quite happy living with Mab and Oberon and loved them both dearly. She was unable to see Mab's well known insanity at the time, as so many others were also unable to see it...but Oberon did.

As time passed Oberon and Mab began to fight more and more with each other; mostly it was over Oberon's love, Titania, whom he wished to marry; Mab did not think her royalty material. Over time this fighting escalated and then during Oberon began to do something quite peculiar- he began speaking of himself as a force of creation or rather the force of creation. Unbeknownst to Maeve, he was working on a plan to remove his mother from power before all of Avalon and the Fae were destroyed and so he could marry Queen Titania. Maeve began to see less of him, and at times briefly saw him with Owen Burnett and the The Weird Sisters, but she never suspected he would do something that would break apart the family she held so dear...

Then came a fateful day when Oberon went to Maeve, who was at the time 215 or 14 in human terms, to convince her to help him make Mab see reason. He was persuasive and Maeve agreed to lead Mab to the Ocean Palace of Zeal where Mab would be reduced in power and made to see reason...at least that is what she believed was going to happen; and, that according to Oberon it would end the fighting between himself and Mab, which to Maeve meant they would be a happy family again. She went to Mab and persuaded her to go and seek Oberon at the Ocean Palace; an easy task given how trusted she was by both Mab and Oberon. When Mab went to the Ocean Palace, Maeve went with her...to the fate Oberon had planned for both of them.

At the Ocean Palace, Oberon with the aid of Queen Zeal and the Mammon Machine, sealed Mab into two parts. One part, her spirit, was placed into the Lapis Lazuli. The other part, her will, was placed into Maeve. Maeve's trust in Oberon was shattered at the events that took place. She had betrayed one of the people most dear to her in the universe and been betrayed by the other most dear to her in the universe, and at that moment became perhaps the greatest traitor in Fae history, even if it was unwittingly. Her last few memories of that life were herself poised to strike at Oberon in a magical stand off, and then him casting a spell upon her which took away all memories of her past, making them 'naught but a Midsummer's Night's dream.'

Maeve awoke on Avalon with no memories of her past, an anger and hate she did not understand, and without knowledge of having any sort of family or home to go to. From that point on in her life she was rather lost and drifting about Avalon. Breaking the rules and falling in with the wrong crowds became normal for her. Those crowds somewhat taking the place that family would have had in anyone else's life, though without the attachment and love of family. For all the various trouble and rule breaking she did, she never found herself before Oberon to account for it. Possibly because he did not want see her after the events of the Ocean Palace which simply hurt everyone involved. She was quite quick to destroy and look down upon what she viewed as lesser than her, though at times a softer more pleasant side would surface. And so passed millenia for her in Avalon, until the Exile and the subsequent The Gathering.

The one-thousand years she spent on Earth were not terribly constructive, nor where they spent learning the lesson which Oberon demanded his children learn. She would not learn that lesson until more than a decade after the return to Avalon. During her one-thousand years upon Earth she continued to be a troublemaker, though this time there were people cleaning up after her and keeping her from being caught by the humans or overly noticed by them; even though she likely never knew or saw these people. The return to Avalon was quite welcomed by her, for it meant no more needing to live amongst the mortals even if she was only barely doing so.

Then came the attack of Zio upon Avalon. On that fateful day, Maeve was awoken by the wind whispering death and quickly left what she called home at that point to see what was amiss. Upon leaving the dwelling she found neighbors turned to diamond, some of them shattered. These sights caused her to run to Lord Oberon's castle. Once at the castle she was greeted by the sight of both Oberon and Titania turned to diamond, though underneath the diamond, Oberon bore a necklace of cold iron. Then Zio appeared. As he delivered mocking statements and an insulting offer of mercy, Maeve took up a defensive stance between him and Oberon. Returning his mocking and insults with her own, she proceeded to engage him in combat. Despite being unable to harm him, she refused to give up the fight and before he could strike her a purple dome formed about her and she found herself at the manor of the Dimensional Warriors.
