Aziel (A-zi-el O-wens) is a mysterious child from the future. No known parents or relatives and though he has memory of his home no idea of its actual name or location in space. He has dedicated his life to insuring all his and his friends actions does not lead to the future he comes from. Interestingly enough he doesn't know if his last name is really his last name. Having only remember his parents by face and event he could never really know this or for that matter his own name. It leaves to question further what he is and where he comes from.

Aziel comes from a future arc. A dark time when the Dimensional Warriors failed in there journey to protect the universe ultimately leading up to several of there members going to the dark side and Jason Evermore becoming evil and corrupt after being infected by Jenova cells. With no one left alive to stop his power this much Darker Jason went on to enslave largely the whole of the universe. And planet that refused was destroyed and its peoples enslaved. Aziel was one of one such people. His planet destroyed when he was all of 3 years old. His parents faced off together against Jason defending there son but where obliterated ultimately by him. Unable to do anything Aziel was taken to one of the largest worker colonies where the reminder of his life would be spent working in the child labor mines.
The mineral mines was no safe place for these children. But refusal to work or lack of ability to work would have you dropped into Level 5. A dark place with virtually no light. Slops of leftover food being dropped there every day. The people within fighting each over resources for a basic need of survival. No place for a child really and so they worked tell the mines took that life from them or there bodies could no longer continue. When Aziel was 7 years old there was an accident causing a portion of the mines he and several kids where in to collapse. All of them began running to safety others being crushed along the way out. Aziel and a young girl where close to the exit before the tunnel was collapsed in on forcing the two to crawl. Towards the end of there journey the cave shifted against smashing his traveling companion before she passed a light smile ran across the child's face. Something Aziel could not comprehend. Alone and trapped his mind raced. He knew he wanted to live but he was so small and so little. He was sure this was the end 'I...I ...I WANNNNNNA LIVE!' he cried out. A burst of psychic energy rushed through his body and shattered a portion of the side wall revealing light. He rushed through it just as the area collapsed freeing him. His will to want to survive unleashed something amazing. However...he find the future to be an even darker place now.
He couldn't explain what happened to anyone he just stood in shock. No one asked any questions of the incident and no one for that mattered cared for the lost children. Aziel was shortly after put into another set of mines to continue working. Exposing his gifts surely meant execution so he vowed to never use them again for the sake of his life. He focused hard so they wouldn't slip knowing he didn't have control over it. Whatever it was.... but soon...he started to feel things...sorrow,despair,pain...he felt them before but they felt far great at times overwhelming. He soon realized he awakened another power that day...or for him a curse. Empathy the power to feel and take in the emotions of those around you. However he couldn't control and it was always open. Walking through any part of the town would essentially be a challenge. Eventually he shut off himself from everyone and everything around him. And would go on to do so for a very long time.
There where talks.....going around between the adults it slipped in the cracks toward the kids. A rebellion was starting... Life was not getting easier and it was setting in for people that not trying at all would just ensure they die in this place. One day a secret meeting was slipped through the peoples of several areas. Aziel reluctantly went but only because a group of teens had decided to go. He was to weak to make the decision for himself. For the most part he believed he couldn't change anything no one could. After meeting with an agent these people where brought to the Carrington Institute of Technology which doubled as an underground base for the rebellion which was being headed by Daniel Carrington. These people where put together chained and tested to see how strong they would work together as a team. There wills and minds where challenged but even Aziel would make it through the trails. Ultimately ...however there was something very different about this group of people.
Almost every person within this group of young rebels although only teenagers exhibited on some scale powerful or potentially powerful abilities. Aziel himself could only throw out concussive bursts of force only several feet around him but his abilities had been welcomed especially his ability to sense others emotions which for the Carrington Institute had some usefulness as personal intelligence. The group was trained and there skills and knowledge in both combat and use of weaponry where honed. For teenagers they all managed to adapt very quickly. When there training was complete they where given there own sector title they all personally decided on the name. One that would be fitting to the task at hand. A name that would give them hope in the rough times for what they would be fighting for: Redeemers.
It was something Aziel never realized or took to heart. Through all the trails and training exercises at the institute they had all been just that. Exercises and simulations. Ultimately during the groups first mission a stealth raid on a military base Aziel was confronted with a situation the young teen never dreamed himself in. A gun pointed at him. It happened in an instant as he raised his gun to fire while sending out a force burst toward someone else. He dispatched one guard but there was only enough force to knock him out. The gunshot however....killed the other. For the first time since his powers had become active Aziel was close enough to not only see the pain of death but through his empathy feel the man before hims last moments. The team moved on with the mission but something happened that day for him. Despite all the pain involved everything up to the very last moments of feeling. He would never admit it to his fellow team mates but he found something within it those final moments where the body moves to peace and nothingness...to be slightly euphoric. ...He enjoyed it.
The group fought long and hard. It had seemed like the Redeemers and the Carrington Institute had made considerable progress. Many friendships where formed. Aziel himself found himself befriending one of the institutes research heads of R&D. Dr. Grimshaw a skilled computer user of exceptional caliber. He was going to teach him something much more useful than many of the other skills he had acquired. In comparison to this man in present time Aziel finds himself attached to one the enigmatic Dr. Niel not realizing the why behind it. In any event the redeemers and the institutes location was given away by a mole. Who on several previous missions tried to ensure the group never make it back. During a conversation with one worker there Aziel's empathy picked up a different set of emotions in the man he was talking to. In a burst of telepathic worry he alerted everyone to the mole's presence in a heroic effort that would leave his body him near the edge of his life with the team rushing to aid the near death teen and capture the mole. Not soon after the Carrington institute became under siege.
The chase was on. There where many captures and many escapes. A confrontation with the dark evermore himself and many others. Ultimately the redeemers where told in present they could do nothing to change things. But Daniel gave them one final gift. A jump to the past that would allow them to travel back and find key points in time that needed to be changed. Now in the past with no future to look to. They desperately tried with one unified heart and mind to alter the very course of history and give the universe a chance to flow toward another direction.
There actions destroyed the possibility of there future. They ultimately distorted enough events that it ultimately lead them to this team. After a confusing first meeting and a long talk between the two. The Redeemers where thanked all around. A look of worry however would come over the teens. There fight seemed as if it was over. But with no future to return to and no place to call home. They had no where to go. The dimensional warriors opened there arms to the youths taking these sons and daughters in as there own. The redeemers would be no more or rather the now redeemed youths looked toward a new future. With a new family of friends.
Aziel was raised a slave. At first his timid persona tried to come to terms with his choices. He was confused and didn't entirely understand the depths of his freedom. He clashed with some because of his soft-spoken attitude and personality and his constant wish to not be overwhelmed by his empathy had him remain distant from the group. He was only 14 and in a world he didn't understand with a life before him that held infinite possibilities. ANYTHING was possible now. It took some time be he realized this is what all those people in the future had been fighting for and why they left that right to the youngest members of the institute at that time. So that they could see a true future with there own eyes.
It was something that never stopped occurring to Aziel once they had settled down. Everyone else from his group at some point in time lived a normal life before they had become enslaved. His first selfish thoughts from his seeds of freedom began to emerge. He blamed the dimensional warriors for that pain and confronted Sephiroth in the sanctum of his mind. Holding his ground the stern leader seemed to be the only one to let himself be an outlet for what would become a growing aggression. Calming his soul and easing his fears while never once straying from his calm disposition. A trait that unwittingly kept Aziel in place.
Slowly but surely Aziel started to adapt to the times. The people helped break him in his timid shyness and all of his defensive shells found themselves shattered. Slowly building his confidence and his resolve the DW instilled a strong sense of duty and justice into Aziel. He seemed to stray a ways as in both mind and age he entered that rebellious stage but it couldn't be helped. He remained distant but he started to show more determination and confidence.
The group eventually learned that a series of events had lead up to a constant reset of the universe by Wilhelm in what he believed was a way of protecting it from being destroyed. (If its forever restarting then it can never meet its end). With the compass of order Wilhelm observed the flow of events almost like acts waiting to introduce himself into the game. Using his Testaments when the time came seeking an orb around Aziel's neck and an amulet Corrine kept with her later to be discovered to house the power of destruction and creation. There had been many confrontations but ultimately he was able to gain both for a brief time long enough to take what he needed of them and head to the realm of imaginary numbers to proceed. The group firmly decided that even if this same instance had happened thousands of times they would not stand idle just because they knew it was going to happen. A force of creation Oberon seemed to agree with there decision and gave them the zenith stones. It allowed them to fight the testaments and defeat them permanently after there defeat. Though split up during this the group managed to best each and somehow got a new ship along the way along with just about the whole of the universe on there side. They went after Wilhelm and in a run that one could count to the wire found themselves in a judgment call with Abel who was the physical manifestation of U-DO and the force that would give Wilhelm access to the system that would cause the universe to reset yet again. In every instance of the past Wilhelm without fail was able to convince Abel that the 'will' of the universe was to reset as such the universe allowed him to do so. This time however there was a subtle variation Wilhelm had not accounted for. Aziel tapped into the power of the realm and for the first time used his empathy not as a curse but as a gift. Realizing it worked both ways Aziel opened himself up to all those around him. Those outside of the pseudo-space awaiting the happenings inside and even those within and showed those feelings and emotions to Abel in an empathic conversation and convinced him that if so many wills of those around him as well as the whole of the universe felt so against the recurrence he could not allow Wilhelm the power to do so. Abel for what is known to them as the first time agreed and denied Wilhelm the power to reset the universe. A battle ensued as Wilhelm vowed to crush them and if he had to do it with his own hands he would. The battle was long and went on for hours. In the end Wilhelm met his end in that realm and the recurrence for the first time was stopped leaving the future to continue.
Note - One would leave to question how a group from the future would be involved in the recurrence. It should be noted that an infected Evermore was able to best Wilhelm though one can assume Wilhelm allowed this knowing that the group from the future would stop Evermore's infection of Jenova cells. Stopping his own demise, allowing his chance for the recurrence to take place, and bringing the orbs of destruction and chaos that Aziel and Corrine hold out into the open without even having to search the universe for them.
Aziel's grown far from the distant and silent person he use to be. He finds his greatest highs in the midst of the battlefield and at times has actually come to find pain comforting. He does not however fall all in and still finds everything else enjoyable. He considers himself knowingly annoying at times when he speaks to certain people. When he feels they are angry with them he channels that empathy back out right at them just to have fun with the result. He has a strong sense of justice and though he doesn't like to admit it anymore he does still care about people and in his own ways tries to help out. He's rash, strong willed, and quick to make judgment calls. Sometimes swaying him to take actions that don't always make sense. He can be very intelligent shown to grasp concepts at an alarming rate if given the opportunity though he himself doesn't ever notice or realize he is as bright as he outwardly shows. His moral judgments are very twisted however as he has been shown at times to do whatever it takes to do something. A little unusual to get use to but entertaining to be around at the least.
