Aya Brea was born to a racially mixed couple, with a caucasian father and an Asian mother. This lends to her unique appearance. She also had a sister named Maya. During her youth, the family with the exclusion of her father was involved in a car accident. Her mother and sister both died. Her sister's organs were used for transplants, specifically her cornea and kidneys. Aya recieved the cornea after the car accident. Another woman, named Mellissa Pearce recieved Maya's kidneys. The mitochondria within Maya were unlike those normally found in most people. Quietly, the cells within both living bodies began to evolve and change, growing differently.
Aya grew up and began to study criminology to become a detective, and was involved in her university's ROTC program. After graduation, she joined the NYPD's 17th precinct. She was partnered with an older detective, and worked to learn quickly. She recieved her first major assignment 6 months after joining, a blocade incident in the streets of New York.
On Christmas eve in 1997, Aya attended an opera performance with an old friend of hers, or a blind date. She isn't one to talk about it. The performance starred none other than Mellissa. That night, Mellissa's enhanced and mutated mitochondria came to life and altered her body and psych, and became Parasite Eve.
The genetic component that made Mellissa into the new being began it's attempt to 'clean' the human race to make room for the next evolution of man: the Mitochondrial beings. She destroyed the audience with their own cells, and lit them on fire. There was no escape.. with the exception of Aya and her very lucky date. Aya's own mutation was different, and ultimately saved her from a quick fate. Eve saw this, and warned her that the more she employed her powers, the more she would become like her.
Those around Eve were either destroyed or mutated into terrible creatures, tokened Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures. Aya found herself the only one immune to the effects, and thusly became the only one able to fight them. She later lerns from a genetic scientist that her own cells developed a way to co-exist with the mutated mitochondria. She then discovered that Eve's intention was to quickly breed, and spread the mutation further, eventually wiping out mankind.
Aya chased Eve's trail throughout New York and fought those creatures she mutated. She eventually catches up to her on Liberty Island, where they face each other. With the assistance of her cells, Aya is able to defeat Eve, though Eve still manages to give birth to her first offspring. Aya also kills this creature before it escapes from the island.
She returns to a semi normal life following the experience until one day..
Aya headed into a local coffee shop to retrieve the morning breakfast buffet of sugar coated fried dough to her colleagues. It was then that her attention was drawn by a suspicious figure, who informed her that she had a choice, and that choice would best be served by killing the man in the shop. Aya remained calm, and headed inside before the situation described by the man, Stan, took place. She was able to stop an innocent from dying, and recieved a C- grade on the situation from Stan, due to the fact that she didn't kill the less than innocent man involved.
Stan promised Aya her destiny before enveloping her into a dimensional rift and landing her in Kaijo's office and into the hands of the Dimensional Warriors. Aya seemed reluctant to join, but soon found that she had a purpose with the team. She works closely with Kaijo now, as well as Genesis, and is often found in Kaijo's office.
Aya also discovered a new aspect to her life with the Dimensional Warriors. Genesis helped her to reason her fate in coming to the team, and through that, she learned to trust and respect him. She earned his trust and respecct in a simmilar fashion. He remains one of the few she speaks to any length with.
Aya is a quiet person, though motivated by curiosity to take nothing at face value. Because of this, she can be stubborn and sometimes unrelenting when investigating something of interest. She may seem cold to those that do not know her close enough.
Aya possess advanced mitochondira that allows her special powers, both in healing and offensively. She is a skilled marksman from her training in the ROTC as well as in the police force. She has a high endurance as well.
She is relatively stronger than most women her sized and can use martial arts effectively. She relies more on her fire arms to do damage to the higher calibur enemies she faces.
Aya has the ability to use her Mitochondria to not only heal herself and others, but inhance her own movements and weild raw energy to deal significant damage to a target.
