Side Event: Beyond the Gate

Location: Eden

As blips on a map pointed out, Eden was about to experience a visit from people unlike any other. It all started with a few emails sent to Edward Elric, then escalated to what Envy liked to call, a game. The helicopter that was transporting Sloth landed, and that's when the fun began.

Notified that Winry would be arriving soon, Edward and the rest of the group were on their guard for anything happening. Sloth exited the craft with her usual cool and emotionless visage. Though the group didn’t know it yet, there was more going on than what she was telling. A bound and gagged Winry was thrown from the helicopter, and as a little warning, when engaged with combat the Homunculus pulled a card from her sleeve.

Lust was quick to act in taking Edward as a hostage to force their message that they would leave peacefully after their initial confrontation. As Kaijo gave the order to stand down, they called for another helicopter, and took off, leaving Edward with a box of things. Thanks to quick thinking from Alicia, Winry was taken to the control tower where she was made to wait away from blast radius of the aircraft that the homunculus had left as a parting gift.

Boom.

Back at the control center, a meeting began once Edward returned, focused on getting all the information on what was going on and why the dead had once again come back to haunt him. Suddenly, a gun was aimed at Winrys’ head, and her visage was quickly seen through. Within a matter of moments it became apparent that Winry wasn’t who she said she was, and instead before Ed once again stood Envy, who hadn’t been able to kill him like he had planned. The one thing they had underestimated was the dimensional technology that came from such a place. Kaijo quickly took control, and then got out of the way as the others moved in to handle it.

After a screaming match, numerous injuries, and the overly dexterous false-life breaking not only the table, a couple of chairs, and even being punched through the wall, he wasn’t quite ready to give up. Continuing to taunt Edward by changing into the forms of his mother, and dead brother, he kept egging him on, trying to get him to slip up so that his plan may be set into motion. However, an older Ed is a wiser Ed, and quick action suddenly had the tides turned as the Grand Arcanum array was used on the ceiling and floors. Now the only factor was the power needed to make it work.

Meanwhile, another helicopter approached on the horizon. This time manned by a male and his woman-friend. As soon as they land, they offered Winry as a peace-offering in exchange for letting Greed into the building to get rid of Envy. Though it took a while of coaxing from Greed to get through Evermore, he was granted access and went inside after the abomination. Tossing Edward a red stone, he gave the kid all he needed to complete the Grand Arcanum, and downed Envy before he could do anything.

With the chance, Edward took it and while Envy was struck by surprise by the array, ripped him limb from limb, gruesomely killing off the insane homunculus. Greed was oddly relieved to see him dead, and continued to tell Edward that it was a foe from the past that was able to bring them back from beyond the gate.

Outside, Evermore quickly took the chance and with runic magic, rigged Greed’s helicopter to explode on takeoff, the only witness of the actions being Marta, who was ordered not to do anything. Greed exited the building after a few words, and picked up a post it left on the control panel.

“You’re going to die… I believe the word I’m looking for is… now.”

Boom.
